3 Days Akagera Wildlife Safari
Akagera National Park has a variety of wildlife and is a habitat for over 500 species of birds, dominated scenically by the labyrinth of swamps and lakes that follow the meandering course of the Akagera River; the most remote source of the Nile, this is archetypal African savannah landscape of tangled acacia woodland interspersed with open grassland. This is where herds of elephant and buffalo emerge from the woodland to drink at the lakes, while lucky visitors might stumble across a leopard, a spotted hyena or even a stray lion. You will also see lots of Hippos, Zebras, Impalas, warthogs, buffalo, and Giraffes among others.

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Airport and Transfer to Akagera National Park
Upon your arrival at Kanombe airport in Kigali and enjoy a 2 hours drive to Akagera national park in Eastern Rwanda while viewing the stunning rising and falling plains, concrete broad-leafed forests and the brighter acacia woods that characterize its favorable nature to animals and visitors. Upon arrival at the park, participate in an evening game drive to spot mammals like Giraffes, Buffaloes, Elephants, Crocodiles, Hippos Spotted Hyenas and masses of birds.
Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge.

Day 2: Wildlife Game Drive & Boat Ride
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and start your game drives in an open roofed vehicle. A half day game drive here offers you an opportunity to spot a variety of game including elephants, buffalos, hippos, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard and bushbuck, etc.
Proceed for a boat trip after lunch on Lake Ihema, for a close encounter with the Crocodiles and Hippos along the river banks, coupled with large concentration of over 525 bird species both migratory and savanna related. Unique species such as Shoe billed stocks and papyrus gonolek can be encountered. Endemics include the jacanas, ibis, sand pipers and herons.
Return to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali
Take breakfast, relax, then have a simple tour of Kigali to the genocide memory centre, Karisoke gorilla research centre before being driven to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight or next destination like Uganda or Rwanda.
