Visitors are assigned a group to track on that day of trekking since these wild giant gorillas keep on moving from one area to another and their movement isn’t predictable hence making it a bit more challenging. This is the main reason why park management can’t assign trekkers prior to the date of tracking.

Fortunately, today the park management has simplified it for trackers in that before the day of tracking,  the park guides first ascertain the gorilla group location where they have spent a night.  The park guides communicate back to the park headquarters and visitors are allocated based on visitors’ level of physical wellness depending on the location of the gorilla group.
