Congo Nile Trail.

Congo-Nile Trail is the newest tourist attraction opened at the end of 2009. It mainly consists of  tangled network of trails and roads that run from Gisenyi at the north end of Lake Kivu  to the town of Cyangugu at the southern end of the lake. The landscape between these two familiar points attracts many people for bike packing and trekkers. This is mainly due to the rolling hills and innumerable towns and villages which gives a glance to the rural life of Rwandan people. What are the things to do and see?

On the Trail, travelers enjoy hiking, biking and kayaking but as you do all that you have a panoramic view of various tea and coffee excursions such as  Huye Mountain Coffee and Pfunda tea plantation. Tourists enjoy the endless rolling ridges of these plantations that makes capturing of photographs wonderful and remarkable. The enjoyment doesn’t not only stop on these plantations but also the general market visits, beach-side naps and nature walks. Few steps from the trail are the Volcanoes National Park and Nyungwe National Park from Gisenyi and Cyangugu respectively. On this trail you have a golden opportunity to trek chimpanzees or gorillas in the best preserved montane rain-forest (Nyungwe rain-forest).

As you move around, you will notice the different beautiful lakeside towns, banana and coffee plantation, three tea factory and the sand beaches.
