8 Days Gorilla Safari 

8 days Gorilla safari, this is one of the mega tours which experiences you to all the 3 prime Rwandan national parks. The tour starts with Akageara National Park, proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park and finally head to Volcanoes National Park. To head to any of these parks, the view of the landscape are totally different spicing it up more. The parks consists of a mixture of Savannah, forest, and hills or mountains giving you varied sights of Rwanda. They are many activities involved in each particular park. The parks icludes wild animals such as elephants, Zebras to Chimpanzees and Gorilla. Boat riding is also posible on Lake Kivu.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival for the 8 days Gorilla Safari

You be welcomed by one of our staff member. He will be smartly dressed in our uniform, meet, greet and introduce to each other. He will warmly welcome  to the beautiful land of “a thousand hill.” Our guide is fluent in the official laguages; English, French and the native language Kinyarwanda. Be transferred to favourite hotel then head for Kigali city tour or transfer to Akagera national park. Any of these activities depends on the time of arrival.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park

Akagera National Park is located as far as the boarder with Tanzania in the North East. Its the largest Savannah park. It is endowered with many several big mammals and a few reptiles The tour to this park exposes you to animals that aren’t found anywhere else in Rwanda. Game driving starts from motning from breakfast for the far animals, a pair of binoculars will be of importance. These animals include; Elephants, Zebras, Giraffes, Buffaloes, Water bucks, Bushbucks and recent Lions. This activity is normally done in the northern part of the park. The game driving cam takeover almost the whole day because at any part of the park are some interesting animals to watch.

If time allows, we return to lodge for lunch and take a boat(locally made canoes) trip on Lake Ihema for Hippos and Crocodiles baithing in the water in the afternoon due to the scorching sunshine and many other animals that collect around for water.  OR Incase you tired you may stay at the hotel and enjoy the nature and the cool brezee of the park.

Day 3: Exploring Nyungwe forest national park

Very early in the morning depart for Nyungwe forest due to the long distance in southern Rwanda. With a great tour guide, you reach Huye district in time and have lunch. Before reaching the park, branch to national museum of Rwanda(ethnographic museum)you will learn about the culture, tradition and history of the Rwandan people. Then drive off to Nyungwe forest later in the evening.

Day 4: Chimp Tracking – Nyungwe forest national park

Have a new great experience in Rwanda for Chimp trekking in Nyungwe forest which takes you deep in the forest and at the end you will appreciate the nature of Rwanda. Pack a bottle of mineral water and enough snacks to cater for you on your journey. However, you can as well have breakfast. Gather at the briefing point as early at 5.30 am from where you will receive information on how to behave while in the park and what you should expect. Nyungwe forest is a habitant to more than 12 species of primates like L’Hoest’s monkeys, Rwenzori Colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys etc.  Chimp trekking is better on either Uwinka trail head or the Cyamudongo sector.

Day 5: Transfer from nyungwe forest to Volcanoes national park.

This takes over 6 hours. On Day 5 after trekking for chimp, prepare to start journey to Volcanoes national park. Expect to meet the dusty reddish roads if it’s sunny and muddy in case it has been raining. The journey is started after having a warm breakfast of your choice which could be simple food or snacks with tea.  Enjoy the sights of Lake Kivu while seated comfortably in African Safari Journeys vehicle in evening.

Day 6: Gorillas in the Mist

Gorilla in the mist happen at volcanoes National Park in the session of the dense jungles of the Virunga ranges. Heading to the park, the travelers are briefed by a park ranger at the park headquarters in Kinigi. The ranger specifies the  gorilla family to trek. Trekking  through the jungle of volcanoes national park is a fulfilling and rewarding unforgettable experience that many visitors look to undertake in Rwanda. Trekking hours vary depend on the pace of the travelers and the location of the gorillas.Trekking requires relatively fit personal because it involves sloping and climbing for some long time. Incase gorillas have been easily tracked then its possible to have a cultural group performance by visiting a cultural village.

Day 7: A visit to Lake Kivu

After resting from gorilla trekking, we depart for Gisenyi on the shores of Lake Kivu at the boarder of congo and rwanda. This will be more of a rest day for you to review the taken shores and sharing them with the beloved ones back home. Also think through your entire journey exploring the most attractive places within a short period of time. There are several activities that can be done on this lake and its only time that can limit you. Among these;  a visit to the to the hot springs, boat trip to an island with most grown Arabic coffee, kayaking on lake kivu and bird watching.

Day 8: End of the Rwanda wildlife Safari

Its the final day of your safari therefore have breakfast and transfer to the airport for your exit flight back to your home country. In case your flight is late in the evening, then have a short Kigali city tour.
